I build software for electricity markets, and co-found companies in AI security and nuclear.
Twenty years in energy systems, still writing production code. Storage, trading and grid balancing on one side; AI security and the operational software an energy business actually runs on, on the other.
I am a founder and engineer. Co-founder of Kistora, which decides what an AI agent is allowed to do before it touches real systems, and co-founder of Nuclearis Energy. Over twenty-odd years the work has moved between energy markets, venture building and product, and it has never stopped involving code.
Day to day that means battery and sand-based thermal storage, energy trading, grid balancing, and AI built into the operational side of an energy business. I also write: essays on power and computation, and a novel about the Aum Shinrikyo case.
Most of my time goes into energy systems and the software that runs them. The rest is split between AI security, nuclear, code I still write myself, and a book.
Grid-scale batteries and sand batteries, which store energy as heat in something cheap and abundant. Storage is what turns a volatile power market into a manageable one, and it is where a lot of the interesting engineering sits right now.
